Our Wedding Gift

It was my first day living in a new city. My friend who lived in the area invited me to a dinner party so she could introduce me to some of her friends. That's when I met Mohammed. We drank a little too much wine, talked all night, and had a great time together. Or so I thought- I didn't hear from him again after that. Finally, three weeks later, I get a text from him in the middle of the night asking me what kind of coffee I like. He told me he was going to the airport the next morning and would swing by beforehand around 8 AM. I set my alarm for 7 AM the next morning to put on just the right amount of makeup and tousle my hair to portray the perfect image of, "I woke up like this." When he knocked on the door, I answered it and said, "Good Morning" with a purposely raspy voice. It didn't take long for him to learn that I can't function before coffee and my hair is always in a messy bun in the morning. It's funny how you try and conceal all of your quirks and habits in the beginning of a relationship when they end up being the very things that your partner falls in love with. Mohammed proposed to me on the beautiful Island and now we're getting married in September.
